Skinner Opus 793
Skinner Opus 793 (1930) originally served at the Second Church of Christ, Scientist in Hartford, CT. The 38-stop instrument was selected by Harvard Memorial Church after an extensive search for an organ suited to complement their recently installed Fisk organ.
In 2007, Foley-Baker was awarded the contract to remove, recondition, and install Opus 793 in its new home. Each component was carefully rebuilt, with special attention given to preserving the tonal character that made the instrument distinctive. The organ was also re-engineered to fit its new chambers for optimal sound projection.
Special thanks to A. Thompson Allen Company, the organ’s original curators, and Richard S. Houghten for console and relay reconditioning work.
